Bison Throws Man Eight Feet in Yellowstone – Don’t Pet the Fluffy Cows – Video

A man was thrown 8 feet into the air by an angry bull bison in Yellowstone.

A visitor and his grandson were charged by a bull bison at Bridge Bay Campground, marking Yellowstone’s second human-bison incident in 2026. The event highlights ongoing risks during the bison rut, when bulls become more aggressive.

The bull, at least 6 feet tall, first charged a group of children before targeting the man and his grandson, who had been at least 100 yards away. The bison flipped the man with its horn, causing significant injuries. Mike MacLeod, a Bozeman photographer, filmed the incident and helped scare the bison away until Yellowstone EMS arrived. MacLeod described the animal as “angry, agitated and charging anything and everything.” The victim remains seriously injured and “is not out of the woods yet.”

Yellowstone EMS quickly arrived and took over care for the victim.

While Montana was not directly involved, this incident could serve as a reminder about the unpredictability of wildlife encounters for those who value outdoor recreation. The seasonal aggression of bison during the rut could be a factor to consider in safety protocols for tourists and service providers in natural areas. Understanding these risks may be important for managing visitor experiences and liability in outdoor economies.
