Winnett, Montana wants more tourists; grant funding will help

The town of Winnett could be the next big Central Montana tourist destination, at least if the members of the Winnett ACES have anything to say about it. The group recently applied for, and landed, a $1.25 million tourism grant from the Montana Department of Commerce.

According to Charsi Shearer, Community Enhancement program coordinator for Winnett ACES, the grant will cover three main areas: Heritage Properties, Accessibility, and Welcoming.

Focusing on Winnett’s heritage Shearer said one of the first projects is completing the renovation of the former Odd Fellows Hall, one of the oldest buildings in Winnett. The structure was moved when the Winnett Community Center was built, and now is located further west on Main Street. It’s known as the 55 Main Street building.
