Billings Marketing Workshop Tells How Artists Really Sell, 5/6-7, Billings, MT

Artists of all kinds can learn valuable marketing skills from successful art professionals at a full-day marketing workshop in Billings May 7.

Montana artists, gallery professionals and art collectors will share tips and strategies that they learned the hard way, from who buys art, and why, to using teamwork to achieve success. The workshop will also include panel discussions "What I Learned the Hard Way," and "Getting Your Art Where It Can Be Seen (and sold)."

Painters Rocky Hawkins, Kevin Red Star and Senior Curator Elizabeth Guheen of the Yellowstone Art Museum are in the line-up of presenters, which also includes Brian Ashmore, (illustrator of graphic novels including Marvel’s Batman), landscape artist Charles Fritz and many others.

The workshop is open to the public and will be appropriate for artists in all media, including sculpture, painting, illustration, design, ceramics and photography.

The workshop begins with pre-registration and a gallery walk at 5:30 pm Friday, May 6, and continues with presentations and discussions from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., May 7. The event will be held on the campus of the Montana State University College of Technology in Billings.

Registration fee is $50 before April 29 and $100 after April 29. Previous workshops have sold out in advance, so early registration is encouraged.
