MSU released the following information:

The Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship at Montana State University will hold a Venture Pitch Competition for around 500 students in the college’s Business and Entrepreneurship Seminar from 4:15 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, in the SUB Ballrooms on the MSU campus.

The event is free and open to the public.

The competition is the culminating event in the college’s first-year seminar, in which students hone their creativity, innovation and critical thinking skills by brainstorming an idea for an innovative product, developing a prototype and presenting a feasibility plan for their idea.

During the competition, groups of students from each of the 24 sections of the class will display their ideas in a poster presentation. In addition, a panel of local entrepreneurs will select three finalist teams to present their idea in an oral presentation and will award prizes for judge’s choice, best exhibit, best written plan and best pitch.

Students will also vote on a Students’ Choice Award. Product ideas range from apps to consumer and business-to-business products. Judges will identify finalists at 5:30 p.m. and after those finalists make their second round of presentations, winners will be announced at 6:45 p.m.

The Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship offers four undergraduate options of study — accounting, finance, management and marketing — as well as five minors — accounting, business administration, entrepreneurship and small business management, finance, and international business. It also offers a master of professional accountancy degree, a master of science in innovation and management, a business certificate and entrepreneurship certificate.
