Age isn’t an issue for entrepreneurs

Remember when NBC’s Today Show weatherman Willard Scott wished happy birthday to one or two centenarians each month? Today there are so many people reaching the century mark that it’s no longer a news story. And many are sliding into it gracefully.

Our local newspaper tells of a 78-year-old woman who recently opened an antique shop. She had dreamed all of her life of being in business for herself and has finally made it. She said she feels like she has a lot of years left to make a go of it.

I read that article a few days after a budding entrepreneur asked me what the future holds for entrepreneurs. The future is always bright for entrepreneurs. People who want flexibility, control of scheduling and more balance in life, all while making a living, usually become entrepreneurs. And, the best thing about being an entrepreneur is that it is not race, age or gender specific.
