The 3D Future Is Now
Three-dimensional display technology has not quite reached the sophistication of the Holodeck of Star Trek fame. But it’s getting close. Today, an array of 3D display environments are on the market that blur the line between science fiction and reality.
Take, for example, Actuality Systems’ http://www.actuality-systems.com/ Perspecta, a device that addresses millions of 3D pixels in full color and looks like a giant crystal ball. Perspecta is compatible with many existing OpenGL-based 3D applications and produces 768 X 768 X 198-pixel imagery that can be inspected from various angles and magnifications — without the need for stereographic glasses.
