Montana Teachers struggle to find good jobs

The proposal a few weeks back to build affordable housing in Missoula as a teacher recruitment tool raised some unintended eyebrows.
“Recruiting for what jobs?” was the reaction of many area teachers. Finding an empty classroom in Missoula County Public Schools, or any urban district in Montana, seems a tragicomic quest.
And yet, the rumble from the 2007 Legislature drums the theme of statewide teacher shortages. There are proposals to forgive college loans, offer tax breaks and increase pay to get warm bodies in front of blackboards.
