America West pulling out of Billings
October 25, 2005 /
America West Airlines, which recently completed a merger with U.S. Air, is apparently leaving the Billings market on Jan. 10.
America West is the only carrier offering nonstop service from Billings to Phoenix and Las Vegas. An America West spokesman told KTVQ television that the route hadn’t generated enough business. America West began its service to Billings in 2002.
Bruce Putnam, the city’s director of transit and aviation, said although America West is leaving the Billings market, he wouldn’t be surprised if another carrier steps in to fill the void.
