Montana high schools win business contest
Teams from Manhattan Christian, Colstrip and Laurel high schools were the winners in the 2003 Montana High School Business Challenge.

More than 527 students from 40 schools across Montana participated this spring in the eight-week business simulation, which represented two years in the operation of a fictional compact DVD manufacturing firm, said Tim Alzheimer, the Montana State University professor who was the contest coordinator.
Each team began with a stock price of $25 then made decisions on selling price, staffing, quality management, advertising and other business issues.
The teams strategized to become the highest performing firm, as reflected by stock price. Teams competed against one another and the economy.
"Several teams developed a seemingly flawless strategy, only to have some unforeseen event occur, just like in the real world," Alzheimer said.
The top three teams were: Heritage Christian High School, first place with $110.65 per share stock price; Colstrip High, second place with $109.65 per share; and Laurel High, third place at $109.30 per share.
