Education Jobs and Careers in the Yellowstone

Careers with YESPI –
Yellowstone English/Environmental Studies Program International

http://www.yespi.net

Yellowstone English/Environmental Studies Program International (YESPI) is a private school based in Southwest Montana in the center of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE). YESPI designs and delivers education programs for American and foreign students as well as foreign government technocrats and business professionals. This includes courses on American-style communication and presentation, environmental workshops, high school and college prep programs, and a Year 13 program designed specifically for recently graduated high school students.

There are two target markets for YESPI programs. The first target market consists of young men and women from China. There are tens of millions of young Chinese students who want to pursue high school diplomas and university degrees in the United States because they recognize that America is still the leading country in the world for advanced education. There are also Chinese government officials, business executives, and nonprofit directors and staff who have been tasked with and/or are working on viable solutions to solve China’s most pressing environmental challenges. They are searching, sometimes desperately, for ideas and solutions that can be applied to their home cities and provinces. The second target market consists of recent high school graduates from American high schools, as well as foreign high schools, who fully intend on enrolling in a college or university, but still have no clue on what to study, what to do as a profession, or have otherwise yet to find a true career path. Many of them enroll in college anyway, change their majors several times, are not too focused, and ultimately waste time and money for themselves and their family.

It is now time to find people to serve these two markets. YESPI is recruiting dedicated, energetic, and highly innovative people who get that YESPI wants to make the world a better place through education. On a year-round basis, YESPI will bring in small and large groups of international and American students. They have come to YESPI to learn useful skills to help them succeed at life, school, and work and to apply these skills for the benefit of their home country and community. They do so amid the beauty of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

Perhaps the biggest challenge for all of the YESPI programs, and by extension the teaching staff, is to creatively use the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem as the primary teaching tool and outdoor laboratory. Whether the subject is geology, biology, writing, photography, environmental clean-up, air quality, English listening comprehension, or simply trying to find out what to do for a career, the Yellowstone ecosystem must be incorporated. This is what experiential learning is all about. It is also what sets YESPI apart from other education programs.

If you feel that you have what it takes, we want to hear from you. There are full-time, part-time, and 90-minute to day-long individual lecture and workshop positions available. Compensation and benefits are all D.O.E. Check out the programs section of the website (www.yespi.net) to get a better understanding of the types of classes YESPI will offer in 2014.

To begin the process, send a cover letter referencing the position that you are most interested in, a current resume, and a 250 word statement on what programs like YESPI can accomplish and email it all to [email protected]. We will then be in touch.

Presenters, Lecturers, and Facilitators for YESPI Programs (90 minutes to half day to full day contracts available)

Environmental Workshops

YESPI’s environmental workshop series will bring together environmental, government, and business professionals who live and work within the Yellowstone ecosystem as well as nationally. They will be asked to present, explain, and offer their skills and technologies to mid to high level foreign government leaders who have the job of addressing their home countries environmental problems. Ideally, these foreign leaders can then take the best of these good ideas that worked in the Yellowstone and apply them back to their home country to help solve their own local environmental problems. The range of topics to be covered is as broad as the study of environmentalism itself. To begin, YESPI will be recruiting professionals to teach and present aspects of and technology for:

· Industrial site revitalization

· Green and LEED design

· Urban planning

· Waste management

· Land use planning

· Energy conservation

· Water quality

· Air quality

· Energy efficiency

· Weed control and management

· Other environmental areas of concern

Education Classes

YESPI’s education prep classes will focus on providing a foreign student with the tools necessary to succeed in an American university environment. YESPI’s target market for these programs are Chinese students who have completed or have nearly completed high school in China. To this end, YESPI will be recruiting teachers and presenters for:

· English conversation

· English writing

· Socratic study techniques and learning

· Listening comprehension

· Group discussion

· Debate

· Public speaking & Presentation

· Forming and asking questions

· Research

· Term paper writing

· Special projects

· Taking American tests

In some cases, the foreign students have the skills and tools necessary to succeed in an American university (i.e. they have strong English skills and understand how an American classroom operates). The bigger and more difficult challenge is to find the right school, complete and submit a strong application, and otherwise get noticed among the thousands of applications submitted every year to America’s best schools. This is a consulting and strategic role. YESPI will be recruiting facilitators and researchers for:

· College applications

· University research

· Selecting a major for study

· School choice and differences

· School tours

The Year 13 in the Yellowstone program has been designed specifically for recent high school graduates who know they want to go to college, but don’t know what to study and/or are not too sure about a career path. This is as much an education challenge as a career counseling challenge. The YESPI approach is to put these students in front of "the experts" so they can learn what a career in a potential field is all about. These are people who have been there, done that, might still be doing that, and want to share their experiences. For the Year 13 students, it’s an opportunity to pursue a certain career with more drive and enthusiasm or scratch such a career off the list and keep looking with more information under their belts. To this end, YESPI will recruit teachers, presenters, professionals, and mentors for:

· Media arts

· Engineering

· Teaching

· Sports and coaching

· Fashion

· Science

· Environmental studies

· Computer and software development

· Business development & entrepreneurship

· Finance and accounting
