Montana universities seek $71M in earmarks
January 4, 2010 /
The Montana University System plans to ask the state’s delegation in Washington, D.C., to insert in the new year’s federal budget a wish list of research “earmarks” totaling $71 million.
The list will be reviewed by the Montana Board of Regents at the regents’ Jan. 14 meeting in Helena.
Millions of dollars are being requested for such projects as turning coal into synthetic gas, building a federal livestock research lab in Bozeman and finding new “Star Wars” technologies to kill missile threats from outer space.
