Montana State University students building a school at the roof of the world

Amid the Himalayas’ towering peaks, college student Marit Jensen pushed and pulled with all her strength to help shove a huge stone from a unique construction site — the future home of a school in the Sherpa village of Phortse, elevation 13,000 feet.

"As (the stone) thumped gracelessly into place, me collapsing at its side, the entire construction site erupted in cheers," Jensen wrote in a blog. "The locals laughed and patted me on the back….. We were really and truly all in this together."

The MSU students’ blog of their journey can be seen on the MSU Web site at http://www.montana.edu/khumbu.
