Group seeks innovative ways to improve higher education in Montana

A recently formed work group of regents is looking into "reinventing and reforming" the Montana University System.

Headed by regent Todd Buchanan of Billings, the group will meet periodically before making recommendations to the full board of regents in May or June 2010.

Regents are proud of the system’s efficiency and productivity, Buchanan said Monday. But they want the work group to look at ways to systemically improve higher education in the state.

The work group will ask faculty and staff about innovative programs they have encountered as they have talked with colleagues at universities elsewhere, Buchanan said.
