Montana Governor Schweitzer says Montana University research grants need more oversight – The Inland Northwest Space Alliance

Gov. Brian Schweitzer said Tuesday he is skeptical that university leaders are adequately providing oversight over millions of dollars in research money.

Schweitzer said federal grants have caused problems elsewhere, and noted they were an issue in Montana three years ago when a federally funded space research center at the University of Montana was criticized as a waste of money.

Schweitzer said he wants clearer and more timely reports on the use of grant money and is still awaiting a report he expected months ago.
