Pharmacies in the workplace – "Employees save, and the corporation saves money,"
February 18, 2005 /
Three years ago, a high-tech Colorado company deployed an old-fashioned weapon in the war against rocketing drug costs.
StorageTek opened an in-house pharmacy at its 2,000-employee headquarters and is now saving $110,000 a year.
"Employees save, and the corporation saves money," said Wellness Services Manager P.J. Hollister.
StorageTek is spawning copycats nationwide. Toyota Motor Corp. just opened pharmacies in four of its U.S. manufacturing sites to stem rising health care costs, a move that follows a successful 18-month pilot program.
