Ranch to allow kids access – John and Dottie Fossel lead by example

Young people from around the country will have access to 5,000 acres of private land in the Madison Valley, the landowner and three hunting and conservation groups have announced.

However, details of the project remain sketchy.

"It’s still in its infancy," said John Willoughby, volunteer state chair for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Here’s what’s been decided so far: John and Dottie Fossel have agreed to set aside 5,000 acres of their ranch east of Ennis "for limited public use" as the Jack Creek Preserve.

The emphasis would be on recreation and education for youth from Montana and other states.
