Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal cites need to invest in future

As the Wyoming Legislature struggles over the next four weeks to create a state budget, members will have to strike the correct balance between saving for the future and spending for immediate needs, Gov. Dave Freudenthal said Monday in his State of the State address.

"No one ever built a business or a state by recklessly spending every penny," Freudenthal said. "And no one ever built a business or a state by saving every penny and failing to invest in infrastructure and people.

"The main challenge is finding the right balance between savings to support future government employees and operations and investing in the infrastructure and programs to help our citizens create wealth in a free-enterprise system," the governor said.
