What global warming?
It’s easy to doubt while shoveling snow on a cold morning in late March. What global warming? But last week’s presentation by Nobel laureate Steve Running http://www.cfc.umt.edu/PersonnelDetail.aspx?id=1139 painted a compelling picture of a planet growing hotter — and of the human role in the change.
He said scientists as far back as 1896 were theorizing that the burning of fossil fuels would have an impact on the natural greenhouse effect that regulates the planet’s temperature. He also showed how rising concentrations of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere have been documented every year since 1958 by Dr. Charles Keeling.
