Weekly Resets Boost Entrepreneurial Focus and Execution
Analyze if anything has changed in your business plan. The best ones are written on an Etch-a-Sketch. If not, then carry on but if something material has occurred then you must analyze your assumptions and actions and adjust whatever needs adjusting. Fail fast, fail often
A key to this is having your department managers provide a summary of the week. What did they accomplish that they had planned on accomplishing. What didn’t they accomplish and why. And what do they need to accomplish in the next week. These are then shared with all managers and staff. You never know who’s going read about something happening in another department that could impact their success or who may have information or a solution that could increase the opportunities for success.
Senior mangers then hold a 30- to 60-minute weekly reset that can sharpen entrepreneurial focus and execution. Founders and entrepreneurs are urged to adopt a weekly pause to review key metrics and realign priorities, a structural shift that aims to prevent small issues from compounding and teams from becoming misaligned despite busyness. This reset involves analyzing sales, cash flow, pipeline, and leading indicators, then interpreting these numbers to inform decisions.
The process, described as a “weekly pause button,” transforms raw data into actionable plans rather than letting numbers remain mere information. The article recommends implementing this reset process on a weekly basis to maintain clarity and alignment.
