Butte is toughening up on vacant building ordinances in an effort to enhance Uptown’s historical beauty.

“Demolition is the last resort, as far as I’m concerned,” said Mary McCormick, historic preservation officer. “We’ve lost so much already, and every time you lose something, they’re just irreplaceable resources.”
