This Exclusive Women’s Network Is Going National

When the world shut down in March 2020, Carolyn Childers and Lindsay Kaplan had just signed new leases for spaces in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York for Chief, their executive women’s network business. The glam, stylish “clubhouse” that had been a main draw for the exclusive group, which executive women or their companies pay thousands of dollars each year to join, suddenly couldn’t be open.
“We were definitely at the top of lists of ‘what’s going to happen with this business?’” says Childers. “There were big question marks because a lot of what we did was in-person.” As for the new leases? “All of that was kind of rendered useless in some ways,” at least at the time.
