These Rocky Mountain Startups Are Giving Outdoor Tech an Upgrade – Tactacam in Billings, Montana

Headquartered in Billings, Montana, Tactacam ranks No. 34 on the 2026 Inc. Regionals’ Rocky Mountain list, with a gross revenue growth of 139 percent between 2022 and 2024.

Not only is the backcountry a cultural cornerstone of the region, but it’s driving tech and innovation for outdoor gear across the country as well.

“Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and Montana are the states with some of the most public lands,” he says. “Even with technology and AI, at the end of the day, people are coming here to experience and participate in outdoor recreation like they always have.”
