The Story Behind the Picture – Missoula Children’s Theatre International Touring Program
We may look, live, or learn differently, but when we work together we can make unforgettable things happen.
Back in 2003, an article in the Delta Sky Magazine http://deltaskymag.delta.com/ about the Missoula Children’s Theatre http://www.mctinc.org/ featured a picture from an MCT production in Missoula. The article was written for Sky by feature writer John Grossman, and it detailed MCT’s activities during a week in Oley, Pennsylvania. It was a charming and thorough account of what takes place during an MCT residency week.
In the picture, fifteen or so happy children in costume and make up, too cute for words, grin up at the camera. The reaction for many, I’m sure, was "Wow, I want that in my town." Over the six months following the article, there was indeed an increase in inquiries about MCT’s touring program.
But that picture had a most interesting back story. Two children in the picture were kids with disabilities.
