The City of Missoula Extends Partnership With The Missoula Economic Partnership to Advance Redevelopment and Housing Initiatives

The Missoula Redevelopment Agency has approved an additional $50,000 to complete its $150,000 annual contract with the Missoula Economic Partnership, allowing the organization to continue serving as the city’s primary economic development arm. City officials said the contract enables work the city would otherwise struggle to accomplish, particularly as redevelopment, housing, and business growth projects grow in scope and complexity. Over the past six months, MEP has played a key role in advancing several city priorities, including helping evaluate developers for a proposed 13-acre redevelopment near Southgate Mall, where Miramonte Companies was ultimately selected and planning is now underway.

MEP is also deeply involved in downtown revitalization efforts, including the Downtown Safety, Access and Mobility project, where it is working to ensure business concerns are reflected as the transportation system shifts toward a more multimodal design. Beyond downtown, the organization helped facilitate the annexation of land tied to the former Roseburg property, clearing the way for future development, including a planned film and television production hub by Story House Montana. With a new mayoral task force strategy in place, MEP will help implement redevelopment goals aligned with the city’s urban renewal districts, particularly around housing. MRA board members said the expanded funding reflects clear progress and the recognition that significant work remains ahead.
