Study: Wyoming spends millions on community college dropouts

Wyoming spends $4.3 million annually on first-year community college students who drop out, according to a report released today.

This amount ranks higher than all neighboring states except Nebraska and Utah. From 2004-05 through 2008-09, about $21 million in state appropriations and grants were spent on students who left Wyoming’s seven community colleges after their first year, according to "The hidden costs of community colleges" by the American Institutes of Research.
