Social Security, so vital to Montanans’ economic security, is facing unprecedented challenges. We all need to stay informed, and to support efforts to defend and strengthen this important program. Come and learn more!
Social Security is enormously important for Montana’s economic health.
- Social Security provided benefits to 253,030 Montanans in 2022, around 2 in 9 (22.5 percent) residents.
- Montanans received Social Security benefits totaling $4.5 billion in 2022, an amount equivalent to 6.6 percent of the state’s total personal income.
- The average Social Security benefit in Montana was $17,939 in 2022.
Unfortunately, myths and lies about Social Security abound. These myths are designed to put doubt in people’s minds about Social Security.
Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works, is pushing back on those myths.
