Sabi Unveils Non-Invasive Brain-Computer Interface Beanie That Could Make Keyboards Obsolete

Sabi aims to revolutionize communication with a $0 surgery brain-computer interface beanie.
Palo Alto startup Sabi unveiled a wearable device that translates thoughts into text at roughly 30 words per minute without implants or surgery. This development signals a shift toward more accessible brain-computer interfaces, potentially broadening user adoption beyond clinical or experimental settings.
The beanie contains up to 100,000 tiny EEG sensors detecting brain electrical activity, feeding data into a Brain Foundation Model trained on the world’s largest neural decoding dataset. Sabi collected some 100,000 hours of neural data from 100 volunteers to develop continuous thought-to-text translation. Data encryption ensures privacy before signals are sent to the cloud for processing. Unlike invasive competitors, this device is non-invasive and discreet, with a baseball cap version planned after the beanie’s expected release by the end of 2026.
While details on pricing and extended capabilities remain undisclosed, Sabi’s approach could lower barriers for those with motor impairments and individuals seeking silent communication alternatives.
