Reinventing data centres for the AI era with Snowcap
November 12, 2025/
A new superconducting compute platform from Snowcap could help data centres slash energy use and emissions
Unlike semiconductor transistors, superconductors allow electricity to flow with no resistance and no energy losses. This increased efficiency means that superconducting Josephson junctions (a system, created by Brian Josephson in 1962, where two superconductors are separated by a thin insulating barrier) require 100,000 times less energy than traditional transistors.
