Photonics West 2027: Montana’s Optics and Photonics Industry Will Head Back to San Francisco

Montana’s photonics and optics companies will be on display again at SPIE Photonics West, Jan. 30 – Feb. 4, 2027, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. It is the world’s largest optics and photonics technology event.
The 2026 show drew more than 23,000 professionals and 1,600 exhibitors. The Montana Photonics and Quantum Alliance and Montana State University exhibited; Commerce met with more than 20 Montana-based photonics and optics companies. A Montana reception drew about 150 attendees and Commerce met with consulates and trading partners, including JETRO.
Montana’s presence at the show is growing alongside the industry. Companies are increasingly interested in relocating to or starting up in Montana; international partners want to visit Bozeman’s photonics cluster. Photonics and quantum were also part of Montana’s message to investors during October’s trade mission to India.
Companies considering Montana, as well as Montana companies attending the show, are invited to connect with the business attraction team in San Francisco. Contact Tony Brockman at [email protected] to schedule a meeting.
