Oregon Attorney General seeks to streamline university tech licensing

Oregon’s new attorney general hopes to spark innovation at state universities by easing his office’s oversight of the schools’ technology licensing deals.
Universities can benefit financially when they license their technology to private companies or outside investors. The practice is known as "tech transfer."
But there’s a risk, too, that a bad licensing deal might short the universities their fair share of the deal or expose them to liability down the road.
