NorthWestern Energy wins Edison award for swift Missoula storm recovery

NorthWestern Energy is being recognized as an Edison Electric Institute Emergency Response Award recipient for the company’s swift response to Missoula’s severe July wind storm.
The award is only presented twice a year and recognizes electric companies’ response to service disruptions caused by severe weather or other natural events.
The severe thunderstorm on July 24, 2024, with wind speeds of 81 mph, with gusts hitting top speeds of 109 mph.
The winds were as severe as a Category 2 hurricane causing widespread damage and thousands of power outages.
NorthWestern Energy deployed 24 contact tree crews and 35 electric line crews to help get the power back on.
