North Dakota capital’s new jobs help lift home market

Though Bismarck is the capital of North Dakota, many of its 60,000 residents used to drive the 187 miles to Fargo for a better selection of retail stores. Not anymore. In the past year, Bismarck has added two Wal-Marts, a Sam’s Club, Kohl’s, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Petco, Best Buy and Old Navy, says Linda Schlosser, an agent at Century 21 Morrison Realty.
