Surrounded by majestic rivers and mountain ranges, Bozeman, Mont., remains a major recreational hub. But in recent years, the influx of newcomers — spurred in part by the series “Yellowstone,” which broadcast the area’s grandeur to millions of viewers, and the pandemic, which prompted out-of-staters to seek more space — has catapulted Bozeman into the spotlight.

What was once a charming mountain town is now a booming small city, with glossy storefronts lining its historic Main Street, high-end condominiums rising in its Northeast Neighborhood and a substantial redevelopment of its once-industrial Cannery District.

Those changes have heralded the arrival of nationally rated restaurants, shops and galleries that offer a fresh take on the American West — including art that highlights its Indigenous culture. So leave your cowboy hat behind and blaze a trail toward Bozeman’s modern frontier.
