Native American Collateral Support program aids Indigenous business growth

Montana Department of Commerce MDOC

The Native American Collateral Support Program (NACS) is playing a crucial role in helping Indigenous-owned businesses in Montana by providing access to capital. This initiative aims to support the launch and growth of these businesses across the state.

Originating from the Montana Chamber of Commerce, NACS was established through House Bill 301 during the sixty-fourth legislative session a decade ago. The program facilitates funding by creating a lending system between business lenders and the state. When a business secures a loan, the state deposits collateral to the lender from the NACS program, reinforcing the lender’s capital support.
