MSU researchers win $1.2 million grant to improve worker-robot interaction

When Montana State University researcher Laura Stanley envisions a factory of the future, she sees not hordes of autonomous machines but rather humans doing meaningful work alongside robots that perform the most repetitious and laborious tasks.

That future, to varying degrees, has already arrived in many areas of manufacturing. And Stanley is exploring what she sees as the next step: giving robots the ability to dynamically contribute to worker safety and satisfaction.
