Montana libraries lose Wi-Fi hotspots access due to funding losses

Trump

Starting Tuesday, libraries across Montana have lost the ability to provide Wi-Fi hotspots to the public. This change comes as a result of federal funding losses that previously supported the Montana State Library’s hotspot lending program.

Launched in July 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the program aimed to provide internet access to Montanans during isolating times. Libraries such as the Missoula Public Library were part of this initiative.
