Montana Governor Steve Bullock names Climate Solutions board members
Gov. Steve Bullock on Monday announced 29 appointees to his Climate Solutions Control Council, which he said earlier this month was to prepare Montana for climate impacts and develop a plan by June 2020 for the state to lower greenhouse gas emissions by 2035.
When he announced his July 1 executive order creating the council Bullock said it would work with Montana University System to find ways to build upon the work of the Montana Climate Assessment to develop research on climate impacts facing the state’s economy.
The council is to make recommendations for the state on how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; strengthen greenhouse gas inventories and accounting to track progress; prepare the state for climate impacts; and identify needs and gaps in climate science, decision support tools, and the research and development of new technologies.
