Missoula, Montana’s Submittable Opens New Childcare Center for Employees

When Submittable Sales Manager Caitlin Stainken’s daughter was born three years ago, her family was on a waiting list for infant childcare at multiple centers in Missoula. By the time her family became eligible for infant care, her daughter was 18 months old. Her husband took a year off from graduate school to stay at home, and then took extended paternity leave to care for their son Joey, who was born six months ago.

Joey will be among the first kids to attend Submittable’s new childcare center, which opens in early September. “I work in sales, which can be stressful. The peace of mind knowing that he’s right there, that I can visit and spend my lunch break with him—I think the level of focus that will bring to my work will be empowering,” Caitlin said.

The process of opening an in-office childcare center has been years in planning and development. “There is a lot more to it than setting up a room with toys and a babysitter,” Caitlin said. Submittable has hired a director and four new staff members to run the center.

“We’re over 60% women at Submittable, and we’ve hired incredible talent,” Caitlin said. “When people have children here in Missoula they often have to stop working or scale way back. We want to solve for that. Work/life balance is an idea that gets tossed around, but Submittable is really rewarding employees with the ability to have a great life outside of work.”
