Missoula, Montana’s Ledger Collective exists to to build durable, tech-enabled companies that provide back-office services to entrepreneurs.

Ledger Collective exists to rebuild that foundation. We partner with founders and operators to build durable, tech-enabled companies that provide back-office services to entrepreneurs. Each business combines people, process, and technology to deliver holistic solutions that actually make running a business easier. And because these companies share systems, data, and lessons learned, they all get stronger over time.

It’s been a while since I’ve shared an update on what Ashley Mulligan and I have been up to. We’ve been heads-down working with some awesome people trying to solve age-old problems facing small business owners. Here’s a summary of what’s new…

Most people know us through LedgerAI, the technology we’ve been developing to modernize the back office for small businesses. But behind the scenes, we’ve also been building Ledger Collective, the structure that actually puts that technology to work.

This approach comes from experience.

At Pathlabs, I learned that technology alone doesn’t create real change. It’s only when people, process, and tools move together that things actually work the way they should. Too often, software is built in isolation and handed off to teams who are already stretched thin trying to make it fit their world.

So with Ledger, we decided to take a different path.

The reality is that running a business today is harder than ever. Founders are constantly battling disconnected systems, manual work, and tools that were supposed to make life easier but somehow made it more complicated. The back office, which is supposed to create clarity, often just adds more noise.

We are not interested in quick exits. We are building for endurance by integrating technology directly into the operations of companies we own so the innovation actually sticks.

Lots more to share soon!
