Missoula Children’s Theater – Next Step Prep provides opportunity for teen performers from small towns

Caleigh Davenport, a 15-year-old from Chennai, India came to Missoula for the same reason as other students in the program: to prepare herself to audition for a college program in theater.

"There’s no drama department or musical theater department at my school," explained Davenport. "I’ve been interested in musical theater since I was about 10, and so I was looking for a summer program and my counselor pulled up this one on the Internet. I saw that it had a good reputation, so I decided to apply for it."

"It was great to find people my own age who are into this," she added.

On Monday, Davenport and VanHarn found themselves sitting amidst this year’s crop of 24 high school students, absorbing an introduction to the art of mime from Bill Bowers, a Missoula native who is now considered among the top mimes in the world.

Is performing your passion? Are you considering a performance major in college? Do you want to be the best actor, singer, and dancer that you can be? Next Step prep will help you get there.
