Meet the Winning Teams – High School Idaho Entrepreneur Challenge

On January 28, 2022, Venture College partnered with Teach Idaho to host the 5th annual High School Idaho Entrepreneur Challenge (HSIEC). The HSIEC deploys entrepreneurial skills, methods, and tools to high school students throughout the state. This program introduces students to the heart of the Treasure Valley start-up ecosystem and Idaho’s entrepreneurial community.

Venture College would like to thank our sponsor, the Åcahand Foundation, for making this event possible, creating a lasting impact that will last well beyond the competition. We would also like to thank the judges, teachers, Trailhead Boise, mentors, and community for your support and participation. The HSIEC hosts Idaho’s future business leaders, and we have no doubt the future is bright!

66 high school students from across Idaho pitched their venture ideas

2022 Idaho Entrepreneur Challenge (IEC)

Apply Today
The 8th annual Idaho Entrepreneur Challenge (IEC) will take place on Thursday, April 7, 2022. IEC is a statewide competition that brings Idaho’s most promising student innovators and entrepreneurs together to compete for $50,000+ in cash prizes, legal consultation, and accounting services to advance their startups.

In order to apply for the IEC, at least one founding member must be a registered, full-time college or university student in Idaho. The application closes on February 25, 2022

$50,000+ in prize money will be awarded as follows:Track Prizes (4 tracks total):

Track Winner: $7,000

1st Runner Up: $3,000

2nd Runner Up: $1,000

Trolley House Ventures Award: $7,000

President’s Award: $1,000

Final Pitch Competition Award: $1,000

Idaho Entrepreneur Challenge: Insider Tips from Past Winners + Judges

Hear from Adam Stock (Founder of Cargo Made Ez and 2021 IEC Final Pitch Competition Winner) about what he did to win, and from Nick Crabbs (Partner + Chief Community Officer at VYNYL and IEC Judge) about what the judges look for in the winning teams.

New Venture College Programs

Reverse Pitch Competitions

Venture College is excited to introduce two new ‘reverse pitch’ competitions this semester. These are open to Boise State students. You don’t have to bring your own idea, as industry partners will identify challenges they face and pose these as problem statements. Participants will work on interdisciplinary teams to find solutions to these challenges, while building a venture.

U.S. Bank Foundation Cleantech Inclusion Award
Application closes: February 25, 2022
The U.S. Bank Foundation Cleantech Inclusion Award is a grant awarded to entrepreneurs who are female and/or people of color and who are building innovative companies that benefit the environment, create jobs, and drive economic development.Recipients of the Cleantech Inclusion Award receive a non-recourse grant of $25,000, 12-months of business mentorship from U.S. Bank Foundation and Evergreen Climate Innovations, and heightened exposure to both investors and potential customers. One Refugee Application
Priority Deadline: March 1, 2022 
The One Refugee application is now open for the 2022-2023 academic year. One Refugee is a privately funded nonprofit dedicated to supporting college students from refugee backgrounds in their pursuit of successful, professional, and meaningful futures.One Refugee provides educational mentoring, professional development, and financial assistance to over 300 students on 11 different campuses in Utah and Idaho.
