If you have been considering “lean healthcare” as an approach to improving work processes to improve care, recruit and retain healthcare workers and reduce operational costs, please consider joining us for the Lean Leadership Summit, August 22-24, in Bigfork, Montana.

This 3-day workshop is intended for members of the senior leadership team, physicians, and quality improvement directors, and will include an introduction to lean healthcare (based on the concepts that of the acclaimed Toyota Motor Company), a review of the approach, the commitment in dollars and time, and the anticipated benefits. Discussion of experience by other hospitals, clinics and physician office practices will illustrate the potential and the challenges, resulting in an in-depth understanding of lean healthcare that will equip participants with a foundation for deciding if your organization is ready to begin the lean journey. For those already engaged in lean healthcare, additional tools and shared experiences will enrich your efforts. The early-day sessions are structured, with late-afternoon time allowed to enjoy the Flathead Lake area, and informal optional discussion sessions outdoors in the evenings.

The Leadership Summit is being offered with an additional objective. In our experience it has been difficult to get adequate time with senior leaders in the course of their busy schedules to explore this level of detail, and we have seen tremendous differences in speed and success of implementation with organizations where the senior leadership team has a deep understanding of the process and is actively engaged. The Leadership Summit will offer you that deep understanding should you choose to go forward and we are confident that the setting will allow for time to discuss and compare notes with experienced colleagues. We will be describing the methods devised and tested in 3-year clinical research funded by the National Science Foundation (2001-2004). The approach created is practical, easy to learn and easy to teach.
