Dear Mr. Buffett: You are a smart man; we can all tell that. You own a lot of infrastructure, and Berkshire Hathaway has a significant portfolio of impressive investments.  Here are my questions: Why doesn’t the passenger train work, and can you fix it?
Ms. Winona LaDuke goes on to mention Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority in her opinion piece.  “Then there’s some scrappy folks in southeastern Montana who want to have an Amtrak back. And I am with them. It was canceled in the 1970s.”
“There’s a strong economic case to be made for passenger rail because trains are economic lifelines,” Jason Stuart, vice chair of the Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority, and the head of an economic development agency in eastern Montana, said in 2022. “All these communities in this part of the world here on the northern Plains are all in the same situation: We’re so far distant from anything.”
