ImagineIf Libraries in Montana providing tech assistance during COVID-19 pandemic

ImagineIf Libraries in Montana is offering wifi hot spots, iPads, and tablets for people to use.
Senior Librarian Megan Glidden told MTN News that the library started a program called Tech Connect in June to bridge the technology divide.
Gidden says thanks to the program, the ImagineIf libraries in Kalispell, Columbia Falls and Bigfork have about 25 hot spots, tablets — and soon iPads — available for people to check out using their library card. She told MTN News that she’s hoping to have iPads available for check out by the end of August.

High speed internet access should be as available as water and power to everyone. Anything below 500 Mbps is insufficient, especially when considering that most of our connectivity is through wi-fi. Not holding Internet providers to a minimum Wi-Fi standard is crazy. They can say there’s a speed to the router but, unless the computer is hard wire connected to to the router, (how many of you do that???!) the speed to the wi-fi connected computer is significantly less than the advertised speeds.
Forcing organizations to find the financial resources to provide hot spots is incredible. It shouldn’t be the only way that many of our school children will be able to participate in online learning.
Montana needs to work to a day when we don’t have to rely on hotspots and using Speed Test https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=speed+test is unnecessary.
