Missoula BarCamp http://missoulabarcamp.org/ is going to host the next Ignite Missoula http://ignitemissoula.com and is now taking applications for the 4th Ignite Missoula community event, to be held on April 13 in a venue conducive to good talks, good cheer and the vibrancy of Missoula. This will be the kickoff for the all day BarCamp on Saturday, April 14.

The format is half the fun with Ignite speakers allowed 5 minutes for 20 slides that auto-forward every 15 seconds, whether they’re ready or not. Organized by volunteers in the local geek community and presented free of charge to their communities, Ignite talks range from "How to Start Running When You HATE to Exercise" to "What does it mean to BE THE VILLAGE?" to "How Poetry will save the world". They can be informative, humorous, engaging, challenging, moving and a host of other adjectives but, above all, they are a way to convey a message to a responsive audience. What’s your passion?

Ignite events were originally conceived as technology variety shows, but they have grown into communities. Ignite was started in Seattle in 2006 by Brady Forrest, Reilly conference chair and technology writer, and Bre Pettis, entrepreneur. Since then hundreds of 5 minute talks have been given across the world. There are thriving Ignite communities in Seattle, Boulder, Portland, Paris, and NYC. Ignite Missoula is the first Ignite community in Montana.

Those seeking to speak should send an outline of their talk and a copy of the slides as soon as possible but no later than April 5. We know that these may change but we need to see the basics of the talk.

Those who touch on at least one of the Missoula BarCamp themes of arts/technology/change will have a better chance at being selected as will those submitting videos.

Those invited to present will be notified by April 08 so they have time to finalize their preparations.
