How Montana agricultural production stacks up with other states

NBC Montana dug into Montana agricultural production numbers to uncover surprising trends. The 2022 data is the most recently-available.

Cattle and calves were the top earners in 2022, pulling in $1,609,835,000, with wheat close behind at $1,259,195,000.

Montana doesn’t lead the nation in either category, the state is 13th in cattle and calves and 3rd in wheat.
