Candidates have expressed a positive interest in your company by applying. Not responding at any point during the interview process could be so frustrating that, instead of a vocal supporter, you could end up with a very negative individual who is very happy to talk about how bad your company is. Marketing is not an individual department in any company. Every aspect of a company should be focused on marketing, especially HR. Forgetting that applicants usually have a network of similar individuals is an error many companies have made and have paid the price.

The same goes for those employees who voluntarily leave the company. Many companies are now realizing that former employees can be a great source of candidates, and in come cases, come back to the company if it works to keep contact with them.
