Helena mayor leans into public safety during annual State of the City address

Not one for bold predictions or sweeping proclamations, Helena Mayor Wilmot Collins’ seventh State of the City Address given Monday evening highlighted various department accomplishments and goals for the future.

Collins’ speech lasted just shy of 27 minutes and focused less on Helena City Commission accomplishments than city staff-led initiatives.

Collins made no direct mention of a potential public safety mill levy the city is considering putting to a vote in 2024, but noted the Helena Fire Department will “bring forward discussions about levels of public safety service and how the city can fund the community’s need for expanded services in the future.”
