Great Falls Chamber of Commerce asks for High School Leadership program donations

The Great Falls Area Chamber of Commerce is asking its members and others to consider year-end donations to help support its successful Leadership High School program.

"The excellent program gives top students an exposure to lots of different positive things going on in the community," said Ed Leppien, a Pacific Steel and Recycling vice president who serves on the Chamber Foundation. "We always have more applicants for the program than we have spaces."

About 40 juniors from area high schools attend sessions once a month to discuss topics such as the city’s history, economy, local government or media.

The chamber started a 501(c)3 foundation in 1989, to help support the Leadership High School program it was launching.

"Unfortunately, the foundation has become rather dormant because we hadn’t done enough to promote it," Leppien said. "We’re sending letters making sure our membership knows we have a foundation to support a good program."
