Gaines Hall: MSU transforms most-used classroom building from ‘dungeon’ to showplace

Gaines Hall’s chemistry labs used to be so old and beat up, "it definitely looked like a mad scientists’ lab," says Montana State University student Emily Kobos.

Today, after a $32 million makeover and expansion, Gaines Hall is "a beautiful new building," Kobos told 300 people who gathered Friday to celebrate the project’s completion.

MSU President Waded Cruzado thanked the citizens of Montana and state lawmakers for providing the money to make it possible. Cruzado called Gaines Hall "one of the most important buildings" at MSU.
